Niagara Street Road Improvements
Hello Niagara St. Neighbor,
Did you know that there have been nine car crashes on Niagara Street in Barrio Hollywood since 2015? Of these nine, four were hit and runs, all of which involved property damage for Hollywood neighbors. Five of the nine crashes involved distracted driving, according to TPD.
To mitigate this situation, we applied to the City of Tucson’s Safe Streets Mini Grant program and won $75,000 for two vegetated traffic circles. These traffic circles – one at Niagara and Cherokee and the other at Niagara and Melrose – will slow drivers down and force them to pay more attention while driving in Barrio Hollywood.
As part of the city’s requirements to complete this project, either an owner or a renter of at least 60%
of nearby properties (Niagara St.) must sign in approval. Barrio Hollywood neighbors will be knocking on doors of these nearby residences to collect those signatures. If you can sign digitally, that’s convenient!
